Sie Complex at the University of Denver

The landscape choreographs a place of convergence on campus, transitioning from the historic campus core to newer phases of development toward the west. The design of the landscape takes advantage of the site’s topography to transition from social spaces to habitats. The new garden is a celebration of our local regional landscape, enhancing biodiversity and wildlife habitat for this urban campus.

  • The 2-acre site occupies a gentle, south-facing slope and receives abundant sunlight throughout the seasons. We carefully sculpted the groundplane to juxtapose distinct spaces: from an upper social space as an extension of indoor programs, to a xeric landscape promoting native and well-adapted species, to a low point for water collection and filtration. This project was developed in collaboration with Anderson Mason Dale and university architect Mark Rodgers.
